It’s another cold morning here in Michigan – really cold. It’s a great day to stay at home by the fire drinking hot chocolate and reading a book. Ha -that sounds lovely, but unfortunately I have to go out and get to work. I’m always mystified by the people who say they love winter. Winter only looks good on TV or in the movies, where everyone is wearing fur and drinking Peppermint Schnapps and snowflakes are gently falling. NOT when you’re scraping your car in a 30 mile an hour wind and trying to keep your hands from turning into popsicles.
Sorry – I had to vent for a minute! It’s not really that bad and I’m just cranky because I can’t stay home on the couch. I did have a happy moment today when I ate my last hard cooked egg from yesterday. Yep – still good. I also managed to get my Pinterest project finished this morning, which will allow for a less stressful evening.
My “today” project was really cute and easy – a free downloadable template for personalized gift tags. There’s kind of a funny story behind these. They are called “Editable Favor Labels and Tags”. When I first looked at them I thought it said “Edible Favor Labels and Tags”. I couldn’t imagine making edible tags, so I passed right over them. When I went back and saw that they were editable, I laughed and then decided to give them a try.
I wish I would have done it last weekend so I could have used these little tags for my baby shower gifts. Oh well, next time! They are cute and really versatile. I made some for myself and my oldest daughter. Now I’m thinking I’d like to make them with first initials and do some for my other daughters. I’m sure they would come in handy for lots of things. And you probably know by now how I feel about FREE! Definitely check these out.
The picture of the tags was taken alongside the cute centerpiece I got from the baby shower on Sunday. I’m guessing my sister got the idea from Pinterest, so I figured it was good to show on my blog. I would like to say that my sister and sister-in-law organized a beautiful shower and everything was perfect. I’m not sure if either of them read my blog, so if you see one of them be sure to mention it.
My other activity was in the guest bathroom/laundry room/cat room that I mentioned yesterday. I know this doesn’t sound like much, but I finally cleaned out a cupboard that has been a long-standing thorn in my side, as shown below. I store all my laundry detergent, etc. in there and over the years it has gotten worse and worse. Actually “worse” to the point that I didn’t want to do anything with it.
Last night, I pulled everything out and cleaned up all the yucky, spilled detergent and who knows what. This morning I lined it with some shelf paper and even went so far as to put a little piece of cork board contact paper (I know, who knew they even made such a thing?) over an ugly emergency number sticker that I couldn’t get off the inside of the door. I put in a small shelf I found at the Dollar Store – only a dollar. Reminds me of the funny story of the first time I took Big Daddio in there. He kept picking things up and saying “How much is this?” I had to keep telling him “It’s a dollar!!!”. He was very impressed.
Anyway, now that it’s all cleaned up it will be a pleasure to use and of course I’m wondering why I didn’t do this a long time ago. Must have been busy making clothes for all my daughters and their dolls!
Well, that’s all for today. I might spend some time curled up on the couch, reading and drinking hot chocolate (sugar free). Hope you can do the same.
